She was born November 25, 1934, in El Dorado Arkansas to DeVaughn and Gladys Riggs. She graduated from North Little Rock High School before attending the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she received a degree in Biology She married her late husband Eddie Lloyd Anderson, Sr in Senatobia, Mississippi on February 19, 1955. They lived at Marine bases around the United States before settling in Shreveport, Louisiana where she worked as a Medical Technologist at Doctor’s and Highland Hospitals.
