HOMER, LA: Wilma Louise Ward Harmon was born January 25, 1922, to the union of Jefferson A. and Alpha Vertis Cardwell Ward, Titus, AL. She passed away at the age of 97, on Thursday, June 20, 2019, in Homer, LA, after a fall in May that rendered her to no longer be self-sufficient. Special thanks to the care givers and Presbyterian Village for their excellent care. Wilma will always be remembered as a Christian woman who loved her family and friends and put other needs ahead of her own.Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 25, 2019, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. till services at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church of Homer, LA, where Wilma was a charter member. Bro. Steven Beard officiated under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Homer. Burial was at Tulip Cemetery near Athens, LA. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, F.A. Harmon; three sons, Dewell Ray, Randall and Larry "Pete"; five brothers, Lafayette, Clifford, Chester, Cary, and Everett; a sister, Alma Cross Cox; and a granddaughter, Sonya Williamson.She is survived by her two sisters, Betty Almond and husband Joe of Minden, LA, and Shirley Williams of Homer, LA; three granddaughters, Wendy Hood of Longview, TX, Keitha Cook and husband Paul Athens, LA, and Krista Dawson and husband Allen of Springhill, LA; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Eldridge; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Pallbearers were Ronald Day, Tyler Smith, Paul Cook, Chris Dickerson, Jimmy Williams and John Cole.Honorary pallbearer was Jerry Almond.Memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Disaster Relief Care of Bro. David Abernathy.
