William McHenry Nabors

William McHenry Nabors was born in Mansfield, Louisiana on September 15, 1961. He passed away on April 2, 2021. "Bill" as he was called, was the youngest of three. The family moved to Texas in the fall of 1967 and eventually to Houston in 1977 where Bill graduated from Cy Fair High School in 1980. Bill was a midshipman at the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree graduating with honors in May 1984 and receiving his commission as a Naval officer. He served 3 years active duty in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant, Junior Grade aboard the USS Fletcher (DD/DDE-445) Fletcher class destroyer. Upon completion of service, he worked overseas for several years and then returned to the states. He enrolled in the A. B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in New Orleans and earned a Master of Business Administration graduating with honors in both Accounting and Finance. He then enrolled in the Tulane University School of law to pursue a career in the field of maritime law. When his father became ill in 1993, Bill left law school and returned to Houston where he took over the daily operation of his dad's insurance agency. Bill later moved to Shreveport Louisiana and in 2007 co-founded Nabors Insurance Agency. Over the years, Bill served on the United State Federal Academy Selection Board and designed and taught classes in property and casualty, life, health and accident insurance required and certified by the Louisiana Department of Insurance. Bill was slated to graduate with a Juris Doctor of Law from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in May of 2021. Despite his love for learning and wide experience in the educational world, Bill was best described as a "country boy" who loved God and country, loved his boys, his family, his friends and his dogs. He liked to talk and would sit for hours "jawing" about this or that and was quick to grab a pole and head to the lake for his perfect fishing spot. Bill is survived by his two sons Joshua and Nicholas Nabors of Shreveport, his sister Lee Anne Nabors Box and husband Steve of Katy, TX; brother Mack Nabors and wife Joy of Hockley, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will hold a graveside service at 4 p.m. Friday, April 9 at the Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana.
