William answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army in 1961. He went on to complete his technical training at Fort Knox Army Installation as a Transportation Specialists. His service-before-self attitude had him volunteer to Swizebrocken Army Base in Germany where he was promoted to Private First Class for his outstanding workmanship to his unit and country. For his exceptional service, William was honorable discharged from the United States Army in 1963.
After his military tour of duty, he continued with his take-charge attitude and started his own painting contracting business. William ensured his company produced the highest quality; therefore, he hired and trained his own family members. However, one job was not enough for William, so he worked a second shift at Babcock and Wilcox Nuclear Power Company in Barberton, Ohio. He performed these two jobs for over 25 years to ensure his family was well taken care of.
William loved his Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed eating out at Olive Garden, Green Gables Chicken House, Belgrade\'s Family Restaurant and Buffets, along with shopping at Sam's Club, and Walmart. He cherished talking with all of his children and grandchildren on the phone or when they visited him. But most of all, he loved sitting and spending time with his wife.
