Funeral services for William "Bill" Edward McGill, II will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 522 E. Flournoy Lucas Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Father Rothell Price. Bill was born on January 8, 1934, to Edward Leon McGill and Mary Louise McGill in Waco, Texas and passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Bill was a compassionate and generous man who was loved and respected not only by his family and friends, but also by his children's many friends who he welcomed into his home with open arms. He gave his time to many charities. He served as a Eucharistic minister and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) sponsor, and taught CCD for many years in the Catholic church. He was a long time member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and was instrumental in starting St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Later, he followed his married children to St. Joseph's Catholic Church and he and Marge were involved with RCIA there. In his later years, he and Marge joined St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church where they served as Eucharist ministers bringing Eucharist to the home bound. He was also involved in Christian Services and was instrumental in starting free breakfast in schools. Bill was an alum of TCU and loved his Horned Frogs. He had a love for flying which began as a pilot in the U.S. Navy. As a small business owner and entrepreneur, he began McGill Aircraft Parts, Inc. in 1972 and was awarded the Defense Logistics Agency Gold Medal in Manufacturing for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald McGill; daughter, Jennifer McGill; son, Joseph McGill; and daughter-in-law, Lisa J. McGill. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Margie McGill; children, William McGill, III and wife, Amy Quinn, Kelly Ford Faught and husband, Jerry, Michael McGill and wife, Tracy, Karen Lee and husband, Richard, Casey McGill and wife, Tina, and Shannon Mathias and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Corey McGill and wife, Jenny, Haley McGill, Hinson Ford and wife, Jodie, Mallory Cummings and husband, Quinn, Jacob McGill and wife, Abby, Nicholas McGill, Maggie McGill, Molly McGill, Hannah Lee, Chloe Lee, Emma Lee, Grace Anne McGill, Sadie McGill, Austin Mathias and wife, Caitlyn, Joshua Mathias and Madelin Mathias; great-grandchildren, Lanna Ford, Ford Cummings, Wenny Cummings, and Mae Mathias. Honoring Bill as pallbearers will be grandsons Corey McGill, Hinson Ford, Jacob McGill, Nicholas McGill, Austin Mathias, and Josh Mathias. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-laws Jerry Faught, Richard Lee, and Stephen Mathias. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, C, or to The Renzi Art and Educational Center, 435/445 Egan St., Shreveport, LA 71101
