William Al Doggett, Jr.
HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mr. William Albert "Al" Doggett, Jr., 84, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman, officiating. Interment followed in Arlington Cemetery of Homer. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11 a.m.
Mr. Doggett was born December 9, 1931 in Gilbertown, Chocktaw County, AL to Ethel Gilbert and William Albert Doggett, Sr. He entered into rest on Monday, March 28, 2016 in Homer, LA. Mr. Doggett was a graduate of Homer High School, and then attended LSU from 1951 to 1954 where he played football. Mr. Doggett worked for and retired from Exxon as a truck driver. He loved hunting, fishing and playing golf.
Mr. Doggett was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Brenda Kay Doggett.
He is survived by his son, Richard "Dickey" Doggett and wife Theresa of Livingston, LA; 2 grandchildren, Kelly Taylor and husband Jonathan and Michael Doggett; 4 great grandchildren, Molly, Parker, Corbin and Maddox; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A special thanks to the Presbyterian Village, Claiborne Memorial Medical Hospital and Dr. Salmon.
In lieu of flowers honoring Mr. Doggett, his family suggests memorials be to the Alzheimer's Association.
