William "Billy" Quin Barfield

Funeral services for William “Billy” Quin Barfield, 76, will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, 1915 Grover Pl., Shreveport, Louisiana on Saturday, September 6, 2025. A reception will follow in the Parlor of the church. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent. Officiating the service will be The Reverend Karen Rogers and The Reverend Dr. Jim Freeman.

Billy was born on June 29, 1949 in Dothan, Alabama to William Quin Barfield and Robbie Cutts Barfield and passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Billy attended the University of Tennessee Chattanooga where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Billy served in the Tennessee Army National Guard and the Alabama Air National Guard where he was a sharpshooter. He owned and operated a family restaurant in Chattanooga with Susan for many years. He then served as a supervisor of armed security at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Billy also volunteered as a diver with the Volunteer State Rescue Services in Tennessee. One of the most meaningful things Billy did was serve as a Boy Scout Leader for over 16 years. Billy was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, Scouting America’s highest adult volunteer award at the local council level, recognizing exceptional service to youth. He was also instrumental in helping many scouts attain the highest rank of Eagle Scout, including his son, Philip and grandson, Forrester.

Billy retired and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana to marry Faye, where he became an active member of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, and he always let people know how much he loved them through his actions and words. Billy never met a stranger. He made a lasting impact on many people’s lives. He lived as an example of what it means to be a good and kind person and treated others with compassion and respect. Billy had many artistic talents, including painting, playing the trumpet and learning to play the guitar. Billy loved the outdoors; he especially loved living at the lake and sitting on the porch drinking coffee with Faye. Billy loved boating and kayaking. He also loved hunting and just being at the deer camp with the guys. He was an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed going to football games and watching games on tv with Faye. He loved his dogs, Buddy and Molly.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Susan Albert Barfield and son, William Scott Barfield. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Faye Deal Barfield; son, Philip Albert Barfield and wife, Tiffani; stepdaughters, Carolyn Campbell Scalan and husband, Nick, Christy Campbell Wilson and husband, McCall and Bonnie Campbell Pesnell and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Zachary Quin Barfield and wife, Kenzie, Lucas Owen Phillips, Natalie Nichole Phillips, Dianne Machell Duncan, Damon Lamar Brown, Forrester Scott Scalan, Claire Margaret Lino, Max Andrew Lino, Sophia Faye Pesnell and Sadie Frances Pesnell; great-grandchildren, Rayne LeAnn Gwendolyn Barfield and Rylie Michelle Jo Barfield and brother, Danny Martin Barfield and wife, Mona.

The family is grateful for the kindness of the hikers, medical team and the National Park personnel who assisted during this time, as well as the doctors and staff at St. Mary’s.

Honoring Billy as pallbearers will be Zachary Barfield, Stephen Callaway, Andrew Mapp, Kevin Pesnell, Forrester Scalan, Nick Scalan, Leighton Warren and McCall Wilson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Reverend Mark Barfield, Dr. Matt Barfield, Max Lino and Lucas Phillips.
