William "Bill" Dale Larson

A memorial service for William “Bill” Dale Larson, 97, will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Brookwood Baptist Church, 9014 Brookwood Church Way, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Associate Pastor John Harp. An inurnment will be held at a later date in Oakland Cemetery in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Bill was born on April 22, 1928 to Amos Harold Larson and Hulda Alberta Dickman Larson in Fort Dodge, Iowa and passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1947 and served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1955. He married Mary Elizabeth Burge in June 1951. He later graduated from Louisiana State University in 1957 with a BA in Mechanical Engineering. He began his early career in energy exploration equipment sales and was an AMF Beard engineer in the early 1960s. He joined Western Electric / AT&T in 1966 and retired in 1985. Bill re-married to Wanda Newton in 2011.

He was a long time member of Brookwood Baptist Church, where he was ordained Deacon in 1977.

Bill was called “a really nice man” by many. He enjoyed oil painting, photography and classical music.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; wife, Mary Elizabeth Larson; son, Justin Glenn Larson; great-granddaughter, Alexa Taylor Larson and second wife, Wanda Newton. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Tristan Harold Larson; grandchildren, Mandi Rachelle Larson, Conor Wolf Larson of Shreveport, LA, Trista Ayn Larson Craig of Houston, TX and Justin William Haggerty of Conroe, TX and great-grandchildren, Brooklin Tailor Hayes of Shreveport, LA, Riley Jane Haggerty, Keegan James Haggerty and Cecillia Claire Haggerty of Conroe, TX.
