Wayne Howard Hyden, age 85, passed away after a long illness at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Bossier City on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

A 44 year resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, born in Manhattan, New York. Educated in Harlan, Kentucky and Louisville, Kentucky. He served four years in the United States Air Force. After his discharge,  he returned to Louisville, Kentucky, where he met his wife of 60 years, Rosemary Guetig Hyden. Wayne’s profession was in nearly every aspect of the pre-stress industry, which took them to parts of Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Hurst, Texas and then to Shreveport, Louisiana, making lifetime friends along the way.

After retirement,  Wayne volunteered for Habitat of Humanity, The 8th Air Force Museum, VA medical transport and the Red Cross. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge #122.

His hobbies included great accomplishments as an artist, woodcarver, a private pilot, and spending weekends and summers with the family at their lake house in Lake Whitney, Texas. A great love for travel was always present.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Howard and Woodrow Hyden and son, John Eric Hyden. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rosemary Guetig Hyden; children, Jennifer Jones and husband, Stephen, Scott Hyden and wife, Cathy and Angela Ezell and husband, Tommy; six grandchildren, Melissa Castro and husband, Ben, Jeffrey Randall, Jr., John Marshall Clark and wife, Gabriella, Jessica Randall, Nicholas Ezell and Noah Ezell; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Kami Earnest, Presley Randall and Tripp Randall and brother, Bill Hyden of Lexington, Kentucky.

A graveside service will be held at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Officiating the service will be Father Nicholas Duncan.

Memorials may be made in Wayne’s honor to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 204 Patton Avenue,  Shreveport, Louisiana 71105 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17 Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
