Funeral services for Wayne Holston Tidwell, 90, will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Brother Rocky Maddox and Brother Bob Moore.
Wayne was born on March 17, 1931 in Bienville, Louisiana to Ebb and Nona Tidwell and passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Wayne served two years in the United States Navy, serving his time on the Air Craft Carrier "The Valley Forge". He came home and started a family with his first wife, Geraldine, the mother of his three children, Teresa, Gary and Derona. He worked at Foremost Dairies in Shreveport for 25 years as a route salesman. For the next 10 years he was owner of B & W Grocery and Washateria on Jewella Avenue in Shreveport. He sold the store to begin working at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside as an Assistant Funeral Director. He took such pride in his abilities to help families in their time of need. He retired at the age of 83, after having spent 28 years at Rose-Neath.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years, then became a member of Rose Park Baptist Church. He faithfully served until he had Covid in October of 2020 and had to move into Garden Park Nursing Home. Wayne loved life, God , family, friends, fishing, bowling, cruising, traveling and attending church.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara Tidwell; daughter, Teresa Gwen; granddaughter, Brandie Middlebrook; sister, Jean Jones and brothers, J.E. Tidwell, Ellis Tidwell and Meryl Tidwell. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Gary W. Tidwell; daughter, Derona Walton and husband, Keith; grandchildren, Christy Cox, Melanie Parker, Carlie Tuma, John Walton, Katie Tidwell, Abbie Byrd and Meisha Bartlett; three sisters; one brother; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Wayne as pallbearers will be Jake Bryd, Logan Calhoun, Cody Nugent, Albert Reyes, John Walton and Donnie Weathersby.
The family would like to express special thanks to Garden Park Nursing Home for the care and compassion given to Wayne.
