Funeral services honoring the life of Wanda Lee Birge Shelby Terrell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Jim Gstohl of Tower Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place immediately following the service at The Valley Cemetery outside of DeQueen, Arkansas.
Wanda Lee Birge Shelby Terrell was born October 4, 1934 in the Valley community in Sevier County, Arkansas to James Lee Birge and Margie Carpenter Birge and passed away after a brief illness, Sunday, October 31, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Wanda graduated from DeQueen High School and went to the Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she became a registered nurse. In 1956, she married Douglas Eugene Shelby and became the school nurse in Earth, Texas. She later divorced and married Ben Terrell on January 9, 1969. Wanda retired as director of Professional Home Health. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and served as a past Matron of the Blanchard Chapter #236.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Amanda Lee Shelby. Left to cherish her memory are son, Randy Terrell and wife, Linda; daughter, Marjorie \"Cissi\" Smith; sister, Linda Birge Boler; granddaughters, Courtney Terrell, Rebecca Terrell and Kelly McCathran and husband, Cody; step-daughters, Vicki Brown and her children, and Virginia McCurry; numerous nieces and nephews; and special grandson, Brentley Terrell.
Honoring Wanda as pallbearers will be Cody McCathran, Brentley Terrell, Jimmy Williams, Bubba Sanders, Jay Head and Carl DuPont. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Cameron Mortimer.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Louisiana Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, PO Box 99, Mt. Hermon, LA 70450-0099, the Disaster Relief Fund/ American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or the charity of the donor's choice.
