A visitation for Wanda Elizabeth Young Schales will be held at 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. A procession to the graveside service at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana will follow immediately after visitation. Pastor Sandy DeFatta will officiate the services.
Wanda was born on January 4, 1943, in Ivan, Louisiana to Mildred Gussie and John Hubert Young and went home on Friday, October 22, 2021.
Wanda was a beautician by trade. She was also a homemaker and stay at home mom. Later in life, she worked in the casino industry, which she retired from. Wanda was so proud of her grandson Bailey's service in the Army National Guard and him serving his community as a deputy sheriff for Bossier Parish. Bailey and Grannie had a very special relationship. She loved her dog, Presley, who was her sleeping buddy. Wanda loved to dance, play games with her family, and loved Elvis Presley music.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 30 years, Billy L. Schales and sisters, Gloria Jean "Sister", Lula, Mary Jo, and Carol. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Elizabeth Schales and Lisa Frazier and husband, Brett; grandson, Bailey Frazier and wife, Kaitlyn; son, John Knighton, and husband, Greg; sisters, Peggy Shealy and Barbara Cook; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Honoring Wanda as pallbearers will be Chuck Beverage, Greg Blum, Jarrell Cook, Justin Cook, Brett Frazier, and Brian Frazier. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Bell, Bailey Frazier, and John Knighton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Wanda's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org/aha/donate or to a charity of the donor's choice.
