Wanda D. Lary

Wanda D. Lary went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 27, 2025. She was at her home surrounded by loving family. She was born on February 6, 1937, in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and compassion for her family, friends, and countless animals.
Wanda married G.W. Lary on May 22, 1954. She dedicated her life to lovingly supporting her husband in creating and operating multiple businesses. They built and operated the Riverside Raceway and spent decades playing a pivotal role in building the dirt track racing community in Northwest Louisiana.
They joined Emmanuel Baptist Church in Minden, Louisiana in early 1970’s and remained life-long members. Wanda was a committed member and taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a founding member of the Angel Ministry in Minden, Louisiana. She loved the Christmas Choir Musical’s and dedicated years building fellowship with her beloved church.
Wanda will be remembered for her love for her family, love of gardening, her infectious smile and laugh, and the effort she spent building family traditions and showing so much love.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Manola C. Curry and Claude Madison DeMoss, her husband, G.W. Lary, and her grandson, Curt Lary.
Wanda is survived by her sister, Eloise James (Billy), her children; Gary Lary (Heather), Sheila McCandless (Elton), Gil Lary (Stacey), Suzanne Lary; her grandchildren: Jake McCandless (Amanda), Alison Lary, Brittany Thornton (Alec), Kylie Hinton (Jesse), Geoff Lary (Ariel), Jordan McCarthy (Justin), as well as fifteen great-grandchildren.
Public visitation will be at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 4:00 -7:00 pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 10:00 am at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Hinton, Braden Lary, Geoff Lary, Justin McCarthy, Jody Prince, and Alec Thornton.
Wanda’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed now and forever.
