A Memorial Service for Walter Terry Pipes, 81, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Open Range Fellowship Church, 9950 US-80, Greenwood, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Dennis Aaron.
Terry was born April 29, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Walter Hunter Pipes and Mattye Mae Wilson Pipes and passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Terry graduated from high school and went on to serve two years in the United States Navy. He was an entrepreneur and an innovator. He was the founder of the U-Pull-It concept, where "they buy cars and U pull parts". If you knew Terry, you knew that he was a motorcycle enthusiast. He competed and placed in five separate Iron Butt Rallies. Terry was married to the love of his life, Pam Pipes, for 61 years. They had three beautiful children together. Terry was adored and loved by many and is going to be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Karen Lee Pipes. He is survived by his wife, Pam Vollmer Pipes; daughter, Kim Pipes Holtsclaw and husband, James; son, Rusty Pipes and wife, Lee; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Byron Pipes and Mike Pipes; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or to any charity of the donor's choice.
