Graveside services for Walter A. Humphrey will be held Friday, November 28, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubberly under the direction of Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. Officitiang will be Allan Strickland.
Walter was born on April 11, 1930, in Cotton Valley, Louisiana and entered into rest on November 22, 2025, in Minden, Louisiana.
Walter joined the Air Force after high school. After his military service, he moved back to Shreveport, Louisiana where he met and married his bride, Odessa, of 68 years. He became a policeman for the Shreveport Police Department. He loved that career and made many life-long friendships. He retired and continued work as a security guard for the Shreveport Airport.
Walter was actively involved in Church and became a Deacon at Beech Springs Baptist Church. He had many hobbies. He loved gardening, fishing, and putting Christmas light on everything during the holidays. But, most of all, Walter loved his family. He cared for all his siblings in their old age and looked after his brother like another daddy. His friends and loved ones all adored him. He leaves a void that can never be filled and will always be remembered.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Humphrey, sister, Maudine Tucker, brother-in-law, Billy Tucker, brother, Alton Humphrey, brother, John Robert Humphrey, sister, Faye Humphrey Lindsay, and brother, Clifton Humphrey.
He is survived by his wife, Odessa Humphrey of Minden, daughter Janet Hollingsworth and husband Dale of Minden, sisters-in-law, Dot Humphrey of Dubberly and Barbara Humphrey of Shreveport, brother, Tommy Humphrey of Sibley, grandchildren, Mandy Isgitt and husband Blake, Chad Humphrey, and Kyler Plunkett, great-grandchildren, Benton Isgitt and Ava Rose Plunkett, and numerous favorite nieces and nephews.
The Humphrey family would like to give a special thanks to Allegiance Hospice Care and to his nurses Jasmine, Ben, and Christy.
