The family of Vivian Jeannett Smith Jeter of Shreveport, LA announced her sudden and unexpected death passing from this life on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Our Sorrow is vast, but we are comforted by her life of service to her family, community and by her faithfulness to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Vivian Jeannett Smith Jeter was born November 30, 1936 to the late Ernest and Eva Smith of Shreveport, LA. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Shreveport, LA at 80. Vivian was an active charter member of Pinecroft Baptist Church since 1952, involved in Sunday school, visitation, and social events. She was retired from Brookshires after more than 25 years of service. Vivian graduated from Fair Park High in 1955. She worked for AT&T prior to raising her four children. She was employed by Piccadilly Cafeteria for 10 years before joining Brookshires from which she retired to help care for her mother. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at Pinecroft Baptist Church on Jewella Ave. at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 with Rev. Steve Pettey officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 before the funeral. Interment will follow in Forest Park East Cemetery. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Eva Smith, one sister Peggy Robbins and daughter-in-law, Cynthia G. Jeter. She is survived by her sons, Robert Jeter of Lake Charles, LA and Gary Jeter and wife Sheri of Frierson, LA; daughters, Cynthia A. Jeter of Shreveport, LA and Sharon Youngblood of Texarkana, TX; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Timmons of Longstreet, LA and Joan O'Banion of Tioga, LA; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless extended family members and friends. Vivian touched numerous lives with her love, sweetness, generosity, kindness, compassion and wisdom. She loved to cook for family, gardening, avid reader, walking and spending time with her sisters. She was devoted to her church and enjoyed her time with the neighborhood lunch bunch and Jolly Elders. She also enjoyed playing dominos with family and friends. The loss of our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend is Heaven's gain. Pallbearers will be Lane Youngblood, Nicholas Lynn Jeter, Matthew Justin Jeter, Nathan Lynn Jeter, Zack Kilday, and Darryl Youngblood. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to one of the following: Pinecroft Baptist Church, 8002 Jewella Ave., Shreveport, LA or The Alzheimer's Association.
