She was born on October 1, 1955 to Lester and Mary Steles Kleowdis in Shreveport. She graduated from St. Vincent's Academy and attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She met and married her husband, Dean Oates, in Houston and they had two wonderful kids, Ashley and James. Vickie was a people person, having worked in appliance sales at Sears for 15 years and as a nail technician for 15 years, most recently at JCPenney Salon in Shreveport. Vickie was very strong in her Orthodox faith and was a compassionate and caring person who never met a stranger. She devoted a lot of her life caring for others including Ashley, Lester and her mother-in-law, Eleanor. Vickie loved being with people and enjoyed fellowship with family and friends and spending time with her grandson Mason. She also had a great sense of humor and was constantly making jokes and wisecracks! She was a huge fan of the LSU Tigers and Houston Astros. Vickie was also extremely proud of her Greek heritage, loving everything Greek: the food, the music, the dancing, the spirits, the jewelry and the movies! Vickie is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dean Oates; son, James Oates and fiancée, Savannah Petty; grandson, Mason Weston; sister, Mary "Tine" Wine; brother, George Kleowdis; brothers-in-law, Roy and Regina Oates, Robert and Colleen Oates, Stacy and Samantha Oates, Mike and Donna Oates and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to help with funeral expenses. Please send donations in Vickie\'s name to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1719 Creswell Ave., Shreveport, LA 71101. May Vickie's memory be eternal!
