Victor Timothy Joris

Victor Timothy Joris, age 69, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on December 12, 1956, in Birmingham, Alabama, Victor lived a life marked by hard work, laughter, kindness, and an unwavering love for the people and places that brought him joy.

A proud United States Air Force veteran, Victor dedicated much of his professional life to traveling throughout the United States, contributing to the construction and renovation of federal buildings, hospitals, and hotels. He took great pride in his work and found particular fulfillment in helping build Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana—a project that held a special place in his heart because of his love for children.

To know Victor was to know his zest for life. He had an enduring affection for New Orleans, where he embraced its rich culture, vibrant spirit, and, above all, its remarkable cuisine. Whether enjoying a dozen—or two—of his favorite grilled oysters, sharing a meal with family and friends, or simply soaking in the city's unique charm, New Orleans was the place he always considered home. A devoted sports fan, Victor faithfully cheered on the New Orleans Saints and was a lifelong supporter of LSU Tigers football and baseball. Whether watching the Saints on Sundays or cheering on the Tigers, he shared his passion for his teams with the same enthusiasm and loyalty that defined every aspect of his life.

Victor believed that making people laugh and smile was his calling. He often said that was his job, and he fulfilled that mission throughout his life, bringing humor, warmth, and comfort to everyone fortunate enough to know him. His generous spirit, thoughtful nature, and genuine compassion touched countless lives and will remain an enduring example to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved father, John Clement Joris, Jr., and his loving mother, Medorah Jean Ford Joris, whose untimely passing left a place in his heart that was never filled.

Surrounded by those who loved him, Victor peacefully left these earthly bounds and entered a place free from pain and suffering. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds comfort in the memories he created, the laughter he inspired, and the love he so freely gave.

He is survived by his son, John Clement Joris; his brothers, sisters, and their spouses; his nieces and nephews; his great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend of more than 45 years, all of whom will cherish his memory and carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.

Victor also held a special place in his heart for the many friends and colleagues he worked alongside throughout his career. His life is a reminder to find joy in the simple moments, treasure time with loved ones, take pride in one's work, and never miss an opportunity to make someone smile. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
