Vera Joy Shepard

A funeral service for Vera Joy Shepard, 89, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022, at West Lake Baptist Church, 2587 LA-163, Doyline, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2022, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Burial to follow the service at West Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Brother Mike Sanders.

Vera was born December 25, 1932, in Doyline, Louisiana to Henry Copeland Collins and Thelma Bonette Collins, and passed away on June 27, 2022.

After Vera graduated from high school, she worked numerous jobs, but she eventually followed her passion as a Hair Operator. She loved doing hair and loved her ladies even more. Vera’s faith in the Lord was unquestioned and her love for her family was unmatched. She was the best mother, mother-in-law, “Nanny Mo”, and friend that anyone could have.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James R. Shepard; and daughter, Donna Marie Shepard Northrop. She is survived by her son, William David Shepard, Sr. and wife, Donna Sue; grandchildren, Tammy Nash and husband, Jerad, William David Shepard, Jr. and wife, Kimberly, Andrew Shepard; great-grandchildren, Dylan McIver, Jack Duncan, Jr., Brooke Shepard, Ashlyn Shepard, and Natalie Shepard.

Honoring Vera as pallbearers will be William Shepard, Andrew Shepard, Billy Pugh, Jerad Nash, Dylan McIver, and Michael Ebarb.  

The family would like to give a special thank you to Regional Hospice for all the wonderful care they have given.

You will be deeply missed and every memory with you will be cherished, and we are at peace knowing that you are with our Lord and Savior.
