Vera Dell Garner Upchurch,84, was born to Arlin Garner & Dorothy Davis Garner on July 24, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 in Shreveport, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Silver Hill Community Church, 2038 Silver Hill Loop Road, Mt. Holly, AR 71758.
She spent many years working in residential property management, where her warm heart and genuine care for others made lasting impressions. Everyone she met became family to her, and she had a special gift for making people feel loved and remembered. She was passionate about her card ministry, personally selecting and mailing cards to family and friends for their birthdays and anniversaries. In her later years, those cards became heartfelt text messages, allowing her to continue sharing her love and encouragement with those who meant so much to her.
Her faith was an important part of her daily life, and she faithfully sent a Bible verse to family members each morning, a simple but meaningful tradition that will be dearly missed. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as Gran, and she took great pride in each of their accomplishments. Her love, thoughtfulness, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family touched countless lives and created memories that will be treasured forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents; various aunts; uncles; cousins, and close friends. Left to cherish her memories are her son, William “Bubba” Arlin Upchurch and wife, Amber; grandchildren, Colton Davis Upchurch and fiancé, Madeline Foty, Madeline Claire Upchurch, Lexi Marie Johnson and Leah Kate Johnson; cousins, Elvis Davis and wife, Peggy, Daymon Davis and late wife, Betty Jo and Marquita Bailey and husband, Sam; 2nd cousins, Ricky Todd Davis and wife, Faye, Shane Davis, Stacey Haltom and husband, Ronnie, Glenda Darden and husband, John, Nicholas Bailey and wife, Amber and Byron Bailey and wife, Jessica as well as a multitude of 3rd and 4th cousins.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the entire staff at Azalea Garden Estates, especially the companions. Also a special thanks to her good friends, Helen H and Imogene B and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Silver Hill Cemetery Fund.
