Velma Lorene Lightfoot

Graveside services for Velma Lorene Lemley (Berry) Lightfoot, 99, will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Stonewall Cemetery in Stonewall, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. McKee Williams. Velma was born on January 9, 1922 in Gilliam, Arkansas to Cliff and Lena Lemley and passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021. She was raised in DeQueen, Arkansas until she was 15. She moved to Louisiana with her family where she attended Stonewall High School. She was the fourth of nine children. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, C.B. Berry; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Lynn and Peggy Berry; son, Donny Berry, Sr.; grandsons, Von Berry and Kevin Talley; great-grandson, Mason Talley; four sisters and two brothers. Left to cherish her memory is son, Bobby Von Berry and wife, Wanda; daughter, Cynthia Carlisle and husband, Don; daughter-in-law, Kay Berry; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Bernice Williamson of Stonewall, Louisiana and Mary Lou Beane of Dennison, Texas. Velma retired from LSU-S where she worked for many years as a librarian. She loved spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was being anywhere her grandchildren were. Nothing would hold her back from watching her grands show cows at the fair to taking the grands shopping. Up until the last few years, you could often find her out shopping or wherever she could talk Cynthia into taking her. Honoring Velma as pallbearers will be Charlie Berry, Donny Berry, Jr., John T. Talley, Marty Murphy, Trey Williams and Michael Talley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Quin Cummings, Doug Frazier, Will Sherrill, Adam Garcia, J.D. Horne, Brad Fajardo, Billy Williams, Jr., Steve Westerfield, Hunter Berry, Reggie Lodrige, Cody Carpenter and Jacob Berry. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Christus Hospice and Palliative Care of Shreveport.
