Funeral services were held for Travis M. Phelps, 79, at the Chapel of Rose-Nearth Funeral Home in Homer on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10 AM with Ray Anderson and Barge Elmore, officiating. Interment followed at the Old Town Cemetery near Haynesville, Louisiana. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 PM. Mr. Phelps was born March 29, 1935 in Columbia County, Arkansas to Ethridge Meadows Phelps and Levie Violet Crump Phelps. He entered into reat on Wednesday, May 28th at Homer Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Mr. Phelps was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Kay Baker and husband, David of Burleson, TX; step-daugther, Linda Griffin; step-son, Darrell Dixon, both Bakersfield, CA; sister, Faye McKenzie of Homer; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-greatchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Alton \"Wilson, Johnny Dyson, Ronnie Blake, John Gosdin, Mike McWilliams and Ken Bailey.
