ATHENS, LA: Funeral services were held for Tonya Necole Anglin Shelton, age 46, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA, on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., with officiant, Rev. Perry Anderson. At a future date, inurnment will be at Hurricane Cemetery near Athens, LA. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.
Tonya was born on December 15, 1973, in Homer, LA, to Billy L. and Janette Cole Anglin. She entered into rest on Monday, August 30, 2021, at her home in Athens, LA. She had a given heart and would compassionately help anyone she met. Tonya was outspoken and she would be very honest, yet willing to support an individual with any situation they might find themselves involved. Her favorite color was purple and she enjoyed arts and crafts, as well as drawing, painting or crocheting immensely. Tonya's peace was the ocean. She loved making memories and taking pictures of her grandchildren.
Tonya was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; and her step-father, Sammy Sanders.
She is survived by her loving husband of over ten years, Dwight B. Shelton; father, Billy Anglin and wife Georgine of Minden, LA; mother, Janette Sanders of Cotton Valley, LA; four sons, Dustin Lynn Hammontree and wife Ashley of Minden, LA, Matthew Allen Hammontree of W. Monroe, LA, Kraig Warren Hammontree and wife Tisha of Cotton Valley, LA, and Fletcher Lee Anglin of Athens, LA; step-son, Dwight Shelton, JR; a step-daughter, Constanza Shelton of Bossier City, LA; four brothers, Terry Anglin of Athens, LA, Kerry Anglin and wife Renee of Shreveport, LA, Joshua Anglin of Arcadia, LA, and Billy Joe Anglin of Shreveport, LA; nine grandchildren, Chevee Hammontree, Creedyn Hammontree, Cambree Hammontree, Noah Hammontree, Lily Hammontree, Jamareon Hammontree, Alanah Hammontree, Karlie Hammontree, and Aurora Gardener; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Lynn Hammontree, Matthew Allen Hammontree, Kraig Warren Hammontree, Fletcher Lee Anglin, Terry Anglin, Kerry Anglin, Joshua Anglin, Billy Joe Anglin, Dwight Shelton, JR, and Elijah Flower.
In lieu of flowers honoring Tonya, her family suggests memorials be made to St Jude Research Hospital.
