HOMER, LA: Funeral services will be held for Mr. Tommy L. Duckworth, 75, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Homer, LA, on Friday, August 3, 2018, at 1:00 P.M., with Brother Lance Sims and Joshua Sims, officiating. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from noon-1 P.M.
Mr. Duckworth was born July 14, 1943, in Longview, TX, to Edgar Clarence and Beulah Baker Duckworth. He entered into rest on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, in Homer, LA following a sudden illness. Mr. Duckworth worked for and retired from Marathon LeTourneau in Longview, TX as a steelworker. He was a Mason with the Ashland Lodge #1138 in Diana, TX. After retiring, he went to ETBU and received a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree and taught for a short time at Karnak ISD. Mr. Duckworth met the love of his life which was his ray of sunshine, Claudia Torbet. He was a family man who dearly loved and cherished his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Delores Davis, Gertrude Gibbs, and Susie Figley.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost thirteen years, Claudia Torbet Duckworth; a son, Michael Duckworth and wife Cindy of Longview, TX; a step-son, Scott Simpson and wife Alice of Harvest, AL; a daughter, Renee Sims and husband Richard of Diana, TX; a step-daughter, Shannon Penix and husband Greg of Athens, LA; two brothers, Clarence "Buster" Duckworth and wife Linda of Woodlawn, IL, and Jimmy Duckworth and wife Martha of Gladewater, TX; a brother-in-law, James Figley of Hallsville, TX; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Josh Sims, Michael Barker, Wade Sherman, Jason Mettler, Ben Duckworth, Greg Penix, Payton Simpson, and Preston Simpson.
In lieu of flowers honoring Mr. Duckworth, his family suggests St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Scottish Rite Hospital.
