Tom Joe Vaughn

SHREVEPORT, LA - A Graveside Service for Tom Joe Vaughn, 90, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019, at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Minden, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Donny Durr, of Broadmoor Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA 71101. Tom was born March 27, 1928, in Good Pine, LA to Mary Elizabeth Treadway Vaughn and Green Wilder Vaughn and passed away January 19, 2019, in Shreveport, LA. He moved to Northwest Louisiana in 1995. Tom was a member of Ellerbe Road Methodist Church. He was known as Grandpa and PawPaw. He loved his family and being outdoors; his favorite pastimes were gardening, fishing and tending to his fruit trees. Tom served in the United States Navy and received the WWII Victory Medal before being honorably discharged. He married Ruby Nell Nordan June 19, 1953. They enjoyed traveling and living in Baton Rouge until she passed away in 1976. He then married Marjorie Newsom August 15, 1980 and they were together 38 years until her passing on August 18, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ruby, second wife Marjorie, son Freddie Davis and granddaughter Rachel Nicole Despino. Left to cherish Tom's memory include his daughter, Stacey Vaughn Durr and husband Donny of Shreveport, LA; daughter-in-law, Georgia Davis of Crocker, MO and Franky Thomas Despino of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Rebecca Durr, Stephanie Durr, Jeremy Durr, Tammie Shattuck and husband John, Melissa Le Haman and husband Thomas, Franky Despino, Jr. and Andrew Despino; sister, Mary B. Vaughn of Picayune, LA.
