A funeral service for Tillman Jacobs, of Marksville, is currently pending.
Tillman Jacobs, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Riviere De Soleil Nursing Home in Mansura, LA.
Tillman was a man who never met a stranger. He had a deep love for gospel country music, zydeco, and the blues, and whenever the music started playing, it brought a smile to his face.
He enjoyed spending time playing Bingo and sharing laughter with friends and neighbors. Known throughout the community for his kind and generous spirit and sense of humor, he often provided transportation for people in the neighborhood, helping them get to town whenever they needed a ride. What began as a side hustle became a way for him to serve others and build lasting friendships. He was also a dedicated member of Baptist Faith Mission Community Outreach. He served as an usher at the church and helped valet cars on the church grounds for many years.
More than anything, Tillman cherished the people around him. He loved his neighbors and was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer friendly conversation, and brighten up someone’s day. His kindness, compassion, and genuine love for others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a dedicated family man. A loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. His family meant the world to him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife; Louise Jacobs; daughters, Linda (Howard) Lewis of Marksville & Sharon Green of Houston, Texas, Godson, Clifton (Uraldine) Bonton Sr of Marksville.; sisters, Bertha Gossett of Mansura & his twin sister Hilda Mae Porterie of Port Arthur, Texas; brothers, Leon (Annie) Jacobs, Jr. of Poland & Shelton (Evelyn) Gilbert of Flint, Michigan; grandchildren, Desalynn Lewis of Marksville, Dorothy English of Houston, Texas, Desmond Lewis of Fort Worth, Texas, Henry Joseph (Jacqueline) English of Atlanta, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Ruby Pierite of Moreauville, Kaffir English & Jonah English of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of nieces and nephews as well as friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Laura Jacobs; sisters, Almatine Dyson, Maeola Hall, Eura Lee Hayes, Jerrie Mae Branch; brother, Henry Jacobs, Sr.
The family expresses gratitude and thanks to Riviere De Soleil Nursing Home and Compassionate Care Hospice.
Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Marksville has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
