Thomas W. Riner, Jr. was born on April 16, 1962, to Thomas W. Riner, Sr. and Betty Lou Swan Riner in Savannah, Georgia, and passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Bossier City, Louisiana, after a lengthy illness.
Thomas was a hardworking man with a deep love for engines, speed, and anything on four wheels. He graduated from Parkway High School and built a career first as a mechanic, where he spent years under the hood turning wrenches and solving problems with skill and patience.
His passion for car racing often led him to Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, Louisiana, where he felt at home. Later in life, he became an electrician, continuing to use his hands and know-how to make things work.
Thomas was once married and shared a chapter of his life building a home and making memories. Though that chapter ended, the impact he made on those around him remained.
He’ll be remembered for his love of racing, his dedication to his work, and the straightforward, honest way he lived his life.
Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Betty L. Riner. He is survived by his father, Thomas W. Riner, Sr.; son, Tyler J. Riner; sister, Sheila A. Luna; brother-in-law, Gilbert R. Luna, and his loving partner, Sheila Garcia.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, or the Parkinson’s Association, www.parkinson.org.
