Tex L. Russell

A Celebration of Life for Tex L. Russell, 68, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Countryside Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Johnson, Sr., officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Rose-Neath Southside. Tex was born July 18, 1951 in Calhoun, LA and went to be with the Lord on August 18, 2019. He was a God-fearing man who had a deep love and devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren. He spent his days serving the Lord at Countryside Baptist Church, where he loved to sing and visit with all of his friends. Tex was a selfless man, going without to make sure everyone had what they needed. He was filled with great advice and wisdom from experience he would give to anyone willing to listen. He loved and accepted everyone. One of the last pieces of advice from him would be to always make sure to have a relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Accept God into your heart and you will be saved. Tex was preceded in death by his parents, Hicks and Bessie Russell; brother, Jimmy Dale Russell and wife Connie; and sisters, Gail Russell and Ann Russell. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 14 years, Brenda Russell; children, Chris Russell, Jimmy Russell and wife Jennifer, Tracie Russell-Hamilton and husband Michael, Susan Ezernack, Sandra Edwards and husband Will, Carla Lipford and husband Kenneth, Steven Ehrhard and wife Crystal, and Kristina Henderson and husband Chris; 25 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons; sons-in-law; brothers-in-law, Eddie Barnett and James Barnett; and best friend, Bubba Yopp. In lieu of flowers, save a life, be an organ donor. The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the nurses on 3 West, ICU, and DCI Dialysis. Thanks also go to the liver transplant team.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. - 2 Timothy 4:7-8
