On Friday, April 3, 2020, Tam J. Burford was welcomed to her eternal home by her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ after a tragic accident.
Tam was born on November 18, 1954 in Shreveport, LA. She lived in Stonewall, LA. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Her greatest life accomplishment was her personal relationship with the Lord, sharing the gospel everywhere she went, and passionately serving her family. She was a member of Shreveport Community Church for over 45 years and loved her church and her Pastors Denny and DeAnza Duron. She served the Lord in many ways. She volunteered at her church as a greeter on Sunday mornings, always with a smile on her face. She volunteered and served numerous other ministries. She was a true servant to her family and her church. She loved the Word of God and used scripture to always encourage those around her. She was one of the most generous people to her family, her church, and her community. She was always thinking of others before herself. Those who knew her loved her. She was a true servant and enjoyed serving wherever there was a need. Her positive attitude throughout life was inspiring to all who knew her. She always moved with grace and dignity.
She was a homemaker and loved every minute of that job. She embodied what a Proverbs 31 woman should be. She loved and adored her husband, Jimmy and enjoyed long drives through the pasture with him checking cows and enjoying their land. Her grandkids were the delight in her life. Her relationship with them was like no other. She saw each and every one of her grandkids daily, spending hours, pouring godly wisdom and laughter into each one of them.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Landree George and her parents, Harvey and Connie Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy and their three children and four step-children. Mandi Gordon and her husband Phillip, Laura George and her husband Lake, and Brian and his wife Sarah. Jim Burford, Lynn Barnwell, Chris Burford and his wife Ann, and Jennifer Gross and her husband Jeff. Her six grandchildren: Trace & Preslee Gordon, Lakelin, London, & Lincoln George, and Brooks Burford. Her eleven step-grandchildren: Jamie Burford, Macy Burford, Micah Burford, Katie Simpson, Patrick Kennedy, Nathan Kennedy, Emma Lorette, Max Burford, Caroline Gross, Katherine Gross, and Anna Gross. Her brother Eric Johnson and his wife Debbie and her sister Christi Cooley and her husband Craig.
A celebration of life service will be held at a future date to honor her after Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
