Sylvia Marie Umphries

Graveside services for Marie Umphries, 89, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2019 in the Summer Grove Cemetery in Shreveport, LA under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, Shreveport, LA. Marie was born April 19, 1929 in Gainesville, TX and went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2019. She retired as a nurse's aid from Schumpert Hospital after working from 1968 to 1991. Marie loved to garden and take care of "her birds." Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Julia Hott; brothers, Billy and Jack Hott; husband of thirty years, Everett Lee Umphries, Sr.; and great-grandson, Austin Bryant Umphries. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Everett Lee Umphries, Jr.; daughters, Kathleen Marie Roat, Stella Anthony, Linda Jane Dupree, and Peggy Nell Mitchell; grandchildren, Richard D. Roat, Heather R. Shearer, Richard L Umphries, Alex W. Mitchell, Daniel Mitchell, and Katharine Mitchell; and great-grandchildren, Maylin Roat, Christopher J. Shearer, Daniel Mitchell, Alexis Mitchell, Zoey Mitchell, Faith Greene, Adrian J. Greene, and Shane Umphries.
