Sylvia was born on December 9, 1937 in Mooringsport, Louisiana to Sidney and Mildred Platt and passed away Friday, August 8, 2025 in Bossier City, Louisiana.

She was married to Bobby Spain on December 22,1961. They were married for 39 years. She was an absolutely great mom. She worked at Trinity Heights School in the cafeteria so her sons could go to school. She then worked at A Daisy A Day florist for 30 years until she retired in 2020. She used to love to run into all her Trinity Heights kids at the flower shop. She was a Godly woman, strong in her faith and she was affectionately called Memaw. Outside of spending time with her grandchildren, she was passionate about sewing. She was best known for her handmade aprons, potholders and sweater jackets. She was known as a very sweet lady, except for when she would whip her boys with whatever she could grab. (although, her four boys will maintain they were all angels)

She is preceded in death by her father, Sidney Platt; her mother, Mildred Platt and her husband, Bobby Spain. She is survived by her sons, Bobby Spain, Jr. and wife, Sarah, Chris Spain, Patrick Spain and wife, Janet and Phillip Spain and Tina moss; honorary daughter, Karen Dupont and her husband, Carl; grandchildren, Logan Spain, Ashley Riccardi, Zach Spain, Cheyenne Spain, Karli Spain and Dylan Spain; great-grandchildren, Lewing Spain and Milo Bergendahl and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Honoring Sylvia as pallbearers will be Chris Clynch, Carl Dupont, Ricky Paine, Randy Platt, Brian Riley, Tony Riley.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Willis Knighton Bossier Hospital, Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, especially Tina Moss and Erica Mortimer. We couldn’t have done it without these two. Finally, Amedisys Hospice nurse, Christy Rollings, and Brother Jim Gstohl.
