SHREVEPORT, LA - A memorial service for Sylvia Barnett Saucier will be held at Broadmoor Baptist Church, Memorial Chapel, in Shreveport on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation in the Chapel beginning at 10:00 a.m. Sylvia was born on August 25, 1933, and passed away on February 7, 2019 after a diligent battle with cancer.
Sylvia was born in Bastrop, LA to Roy Barnett and Neva Curtis Barnett. She graduated from Bastrop High School and attended Northwest University in Monroe on a Legislative Scholarship. She moved to Shreveport in 1956 and worked as a bookkeeper and a secretary in the banking and oil and gas industry.
Her most important career and accomplishment was being an exceptional mother and homemaker, giving her children an idyllic childhood for which we are forever grateful.
Sylvia was deeply loved by her family and a multitude of friends. She was known for her beautiful smile, compassion and sincerity. She had many lifelong friendships which brought her great joy. Sylvia had a strong Faith that guided her throughout her life and a love for Jesus Christ that never wavered. She was simply a beautiful soul who will be greatly missed.
Sylvia is survived by her husband and companion of 55 years, Richard A. Saucier, her children, Amy Saucier Garceau, Blake Allen Saucier, and R. Scott Saucier. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Patsy Barnett Hust, and her son-in-law, Danny Garceau.
