Sylvester LaCour

Mr. Sylvester LaCour, 62, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away at his home on Wednesday September 17, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 35 years, LaWaunda LaCour; daughter, Brienne LaCour-Shepherd (Lester “Jay”) of Shreveport, LA; son, Wade LaCour of Shreveport, LA; grandson, Solas Sylvester-LaCour Shepherd; sisters, Barbara LaCour-Simmons of Lakewood, WA, and Sylvia LaCour-Williams of Shreveport, LA. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his only living uncle, Roylin (Loocey) LaCour, one brother-in-law; five sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; two extended daughters, Morgan Nelms and Danica Bartholomew and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Sylvester is preceded in death by his parents, Brazil and Leocadia LaCour; a son, Sylvester Deldrage; brother, Charles LaCour and sister, Annie LaCour-Moore.

Sylvester affectionately known as “Paco” by his co-workers was dedicated to his job at Omni Specialty Packaging, where he was employed for over 21 years until he experienced a major heart attack in July of 2023 which rendered him anoxic and left him bedridden. He was cared for at home for the past two years by his wife, kids, close family and caregivers until he peacefully entered eternal rest.

Sylvester loved to vacation with his family on cruises, trips to Orange Beach and the cabins in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. During family gatherings, if there was a body of water, you could find him fishing from Cane River to Cross Lake. He even took advantage of the flood of 2016 and enjoyed fishing from his front door. Cane River and his Tante’ Lair’s home was dear to him, and he often took weekend trips to visit. He enjoyed finding new movies to watch with his wife and anyone visiting his home. If there was a new movie out that you had not seen yet, you would see it by the time you left his home. Sylvester loved music across various genres. From reggaeton to country, he was a fan and didn’t believe in earphones, so you’d come to know this. He loved to dance and make people laugh with his silly posts on Facebook and loved to post videos of himself performing his smooth dance moves which I am sure you can find on Facebook and YouTube.

Sylvester was an avid sports fan, also and loved most sports from tennis to baseball to golf, but he was a dedicated fan to his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers throughout his life, as well as a fan of the Boston Celtics. It was always a joy when he would get the rare opportunity to attend a Steelers game to cheer for his favorite team. He also enjoyed grilling for the family when he had time off from work, experimenting with different recipes and grilling his favorite steak, a juicy rib eye to enjoy while watching the games at home.

His infectious laughter, contagious smile and serene attitude will be dearly missed by friends and family.
