Memorial services for Stuart Allen Briscoe III will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at St. Mark’s Cathedral, 908 Rutherford Street, in Shreveport, Louisiana with The Very Reverend Alston Johnson officiating.
Stuart Allen Briscoe III was born on August 3, 1950 in Brookhaven, Mississippi and entered into eternal life on December 7, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Stuart was the third child and only son of Stuart Allen Briscoe, Jr. and Georgeanna Louise Briscoe. He grew up in the Indian Hills subdivision of St. Louis, Missouri, alongside his sisters, Susan Louise Briscoe (Schaeffer) and Barbara Ann Briscoe (Kohnert). Stuart attended Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic School before continuing his education in the Bayless School District.
Stuart’s sister, Susan remembers Stuart as an active and creative child. He possessed a vivid imagination and a joyful spirit. One of his most cherished childhood companions was a full-sized clown doll named “Joey” who shared his bed each night. Stuart delighted in dressing up as a child. Whether in full cowboy gear, complete with hat, holster, and caps at the ready, or as Zorro, riding his bicycle down the street with his black cape flying behind him. If a neighborhood child called out “Hey, Stuart!”, he would reply “I’m not Stuart, I’m Zorro!”, and ride off, fully immersed in his adventures.
In the summer of 1965, the family relocated to Houston, Texas, where his father helped establish another Anheuser-Busch brewery. Following high school graduation, Stuart went on to attend and graduate from Centenary College and ultimately made Shreveport, Louisiana his lifelong home.
Stuart met the love of his life, Jan Wallace Briscoe, on a blind date in 1998. They married in 2005, following a long and devoted courtship. Their marriage was built on unwavering devotion and mutual respect. Jan was a source of great joy and companionship for Stuart. He treasured their time together and found immense comfort in her presence. Jan would describe Stuart as compassionate, loyal, intelligent, generous, kind, personable, and funny. She admired that he was a good father. Stuart took pride in caring for Jan’s parents, Don and Virgie Wallace, in their elder years.
Stuart found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved racing cars, driving tractors, and mowing grass until after dark. Purchasing Yarbrough Interior Designers was an example of his business acumen. He cherished time spent with his children and grandsons, who brought him immeasurable pride. He adored his “girls”, his beloved poodles, Charlotte and Suzie. They entertained him endlessly.
Stuart is preceded in death by his parents, Stuart Allen Briscoe, Jr. and Georgeanna Louise Briscoe; and his sister, Barbara Briscoe Kohnert. He is survived by his wife, Jan Wallace Briscoe; son, Stuart Briscoe IV and his wife, Francie; daughter, Lauren Briscoe; son, James Briscoe and his wife, Lauren; four grandsons, Connor, Luke, Brennan, and Benjamin; sister, Susan Briscoe Schaeffer and her husband, Jim Schaeffer; and brother-in-law Jim Kohnert.
