Steve Tingle, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ, passed away on August 27, 2025, at the age of 69.
A resident of Gloster, Steve graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1974 and went on to attend Baptist Christian College. On August 18, 1978, he married the love of his life, Donna Shaw. They shared 47 wonderful years together, raising two children and building a life centered on faith, family, and service.
Steve was a hardworking man who wore many hats throughout his life — equipment operator, glazier, truck driver, and eventually manager of a successful glass business in Mansfield, where he worked until his retirement. Through his dedication and leadership, he built not only a business, but a lasting reputation for integrity and excellence.
His true passions, however, were rooted in his love for the Lord Jesus Christ and his family. Steve served faithfully as a deacon in his church and was a talented musician who played guitar and sang in the church band. He led by example — not just within his congregation, but also in his community — where he was known as a kind, sweet, and humble man.
Steve enjoyed the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life — hunting, fishing, playing softball, and coaching Dixie baseball. In recent years, one of his greatest joys was watching his grandson play football, cheering him on with pride. Those who knew Steve will remember him as a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, a trusted friend, and a strong leader. His life was a testimony to faith, kindness, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Theola Tingle, and sisters, Linda and Jennifer Tingle. He is survived by his wife, Donna Tingle; children, Tammy Lowe and husband Chris; Stephen Tingle and fiancée Tara McCann; Chris Dowdy, and Christy Dean; grandchildren, Jeremiah Lowe, Savannah Carter, Landen Carter, and Kenley Dowdy; great-grandson, Remington Lane Funderburk; brother, Andy Sims; sister-in-law, Kathy Edwards and husband Alan; nephew, Kyle Broughton; and great-niece, Vincey Broughton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Colon Cancer Coalition in Steve’s memory: https://coloncancercoalition.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/
