Steve Harrison Lee, age 68, was born, in Homer, LA, April 22, 1958, to Billy Wayne and Jenny Perry Lee. He entered into rest on November 4, 2026, in Homer, LA. Steve resided in Houston and Porter, TX, most of his life. He moved back to Homer in October 2025 after retiring to be with relatives in Claiborne Parish.
Steve graduated from Westbury High School in Houston, TX, and went on to graduate from Houston Baptist University with a degree oriented in Theology. Steve returned to his love of plants and growing plants, running retail nurseries and landscaping in the Houston area, plus his own small nursery later on in Porter, TX. Steve could take just the right “snip-it” off of most plants and stick it in just the right soil conditions, and away it would grow. He later was part of the security operation at Deer Ridge Estates in Kingwood, TX.
When asked if he needed something, Steve usually responded, “I’m just a regular Ole Joe; I have all I need.” He attracted friends wherever he was and many “human angels” were always there when he needed them the most. Steve has beat the cancer and is now Home with Jesus, and all his relatives he missed; just as he said.
He is preceded in death by his father, Billy W. Lee; paternal grandparents, James Harrison Lee and Avis Cardwell Lee; and maternal grandparents, Calvin Curtis Perry and Novice Verdelle Harrison Perry.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Virginia Perry Lee; his brothers, Jeffrey Lee and wife Gina of Midland, MI, Jon “Clay” Lee and wife Traci of Chesapeake, VA; and a niece, numerous nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to send special thanks for Steve to all those relatives, friends, doctors, and angels in Homer, LA and on Lake Claiborne that have been there for him during his 2026 health emergencies. We also want to send special thanks to all of Steve’s wonderful friends at Deer Ridge Estates in Kingwood, TX, the wonderful people at Presbyterian Village in Homer, and his wonderful friends at Kel’s Kove on Lake Claiborne.
In lieu of flowers honoring Steve, please donate to St. Jude Children's Hospital or just find a friend, or someone in need, and help them out however you can.
A small family gathering and inurnment at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA, will occur sometime during the Christmas season.
