Sil T. Ablaza, Jr.

A memorial service for Sil T. Ablaza, Jr., 92, will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Reverend Samantha Saxton.

Sil was born on August 11, 1931, to Silvestre M. Ablaza, Sr., and Asuncion T. Ablaza in Manilla, Philippines, and passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Sil had a dedicated career as a Merchant Marine for Seafarers International. His career was marked by professionalism and a strong work ethic. Aside from his professional accomplishments, Sil will be remembered for the gentle demeanor and loving nature that defined him. Those close to him often spoke of his quiet yet compassionate presence, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

In his leisure time, Sil found joy in solving crossword puzzles, engaging in crafting activities, and trying his luck playing the lottery. However, it was his unwavering support for the New Orleans Saints as a true “Who Dat” fan that truly lit up his spirit. Sil will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Sil is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Rachel Brown Ablaza; Raquel V. Slowiak, and Cecil Ventura. He is survived by his children, Albert F. Ventura, I and his wife, Bevin, and Terri L. Mendez; his grandchildren, Patricia H. McClure and her significant other, Wesley Parnell; his great-grandchildren, Heather F. Terrington and her husband, Tedd, Samantha Saxton and her husband, James, Albert F. Ventura, II, Brittani R. Lara, Teri L. Walston and her husband, Wyatt, Chaz P. Ventura and his wife, Christine, Ricky Lara-Aquino and her husband, David, Maria Juarez and many great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Myrna Pugao.
