Shirley Ruth Ponder Hardwick, a long-time Shreveport resident, was born August 30, 1935 to Charlie Ponder and Ruth Faircloth Ponder. Shirley is survived by her husband of 67 years, Carl Hardwick, four of their five children, Cindy (Greg), Chuck (Carol), Larry (Sandi), Randall (Jane); nine grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Stephanie, Preston, Tracie, Emily, Laura, Kayla, and Stephanie Flynn; four great-grandchildren, Brian, Chris, Haylee, and Hayden; and her sisters, Betty Ponder Sorrels and Patti Wulff. She is predeceased by her son, John; brother, LeRoy; and sister, Lois.
She was a member of Redeemer Community Church of Shreveport. She is past member and 30+ year Missions Chairwoman and active member of Shreveport Bible Church.
Shirley graduated from Fair Park High School in 1954, and served as coordinator and co-treasurer of her class alumni activities. She was a full time homemaker and later founded and operated Shirley's Tax Service for many years prior to retirement.
She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. May she rest in peace with God.
Services to honor her will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana, followed by burial at Eppes Cemetery, 6526 Greenwood Rd. in Shreveport. Visitation will be open at 12:00 p.m., just prior to the 1:00 p.m. services. Officiating the service will be Pastor Billy Sutton.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Heart of Hope Ministries in Keithville, Louisiana.
