Shirley Jean Nutt

Shirley Jean Briggs Nutt, age 86 of Vivian, LA passed away on September 14, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Trees Baptist Church, 11391 Trees City Road, Vivian, Louisiana with Rev. Mark Crook pastor of the church officiating. Interment will follow in the Vivian Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation on Thursday, September 16, 2021 beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Shirley was born on March 6, 1935 in Vivian, Louisiana to Ralph and Mildred Van Horn Briggs. She married Bobby Ray Nutt on September 6, 1953 in Trees City, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Vivian High School class of 1953. After marrying, Shirley and Bob moved to Houma, Louisiana. After retiring, they moved back to Vivian to live closer to family. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, Bobby Ray Nutt, her brother, R. S. "Bill" Brigg, Jr., her two sisters, Mildred Edith Doiron and Dorothy Eason Freeman, her nephew, David Paul Wilson and her niece, Sherrie Eason Williams. She is survived by one daughter, Melinda Kay Nutt Davis and husband, Randy of Vivian, Louisiana, her grandson, Darren Randall Davis of Denver, Colorado, one sister, Pat Wilson of Shreveport, Louisiana, one brother-in-law, Carl W. Nutt and wife, JoAnn of Gray, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Honoring Shirley as pallbearers will be Donnie Wilson, Derick Wilson, James Festervand, George Percy Ashley, Jr, Jimmy Dempsey and Steve McLaurin. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Davis, Darren Davis and Sonny Boyter. Shirley was a fun-loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
