Shirley was born on May 27, 1941, to Henry Claus Lubeck and Ida Emma Tegtman in Holdredge, Nebraska, and passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at her home in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Shirley was a lifelong learner and devoted educator whose passion for knowledge and service touched many lives. She began her academic journey at Mascot Elementary and High School in Harlan County, Nebraska, and continued on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Nebraska State Teachers College in Kearney. With a love for literature and the performing arts, she taught English and theatre at several high schools, including Haughton High School in Haughton, Louisiana, where she inspired countless students with her creativity, discipline, and care.

After stepping away from the classroom to raise her five children, including two sets of twins, Shirley returned to the workforce with the Louisiana Department of Social Services. As a caseload worker, she brought empathy, diligence, and a deep sense of responsibility to her role, serving families across the state until her retirement in 2002.

Outside of her professional life, Shirley found joy in lively, meaningful pursuits; she was never one to sit quietly. She was an avid reader, often lost in the pages of a good book, and she expressed her creativity through crocheting and sewing, crafting pieces that carried both beauty and love. Many of her handmade items were donated to charities, reflecting her generous heart and desire to uplift others.

In recent years, Shirley embraced new adventures with enthusiasm. She took up pickleball at the Shady Grove Rec Center and enjoyed playing bingo and practicing yoga at the Bossier Council on Aging. Her home was filled with laughter and love, especially around the family table, where she played dominoes, Skip-Bo, and Uno with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will live on for generations.

Faith was a cornerstone of Shirley’s life. She was an active member of Bellaire Baptist Church, where she participated in Bill Mackey’s Sunday School class and the Golden Eagles. She also attended Sunday evening services at Woodridge Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was a proud contributor to their sewing ministry.

Shirley Posey never knew a stranger. Her warmth, humor, and boundless energy drew people in, and she leaves behind many dear friends who will forever cherish her precious memory.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Claus Lubeck and Ida Emma Tegtman; her beloved husband, Robert Aldine Posey; her brothers, Kenneth, Wesley, Gaylord, and Marvin Lubeck; her sister, Irene Morris; her stepmother, Esther Lubeck; and her stepsisters, Rolene Karlish and Della Mae Heathers.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Darlene Harris; her brother, Darrell Lubeck; her stepsisters, Ruth Patterson and Donita White; her daughter, Pam Clapp and husband, Paul; her son, Randy Posey and wife, April; and her daughters, Renee Southern and husband, James, Jennifer Easley and husband, David, and Janet Posey.

Honoring Shirley as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Nolan Clapp, Adam Otey, Justin Otey, Joshua Southern, and Justus Lemon, along with Brandon Valeton, and Aaron Blake. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Darian Sims, Matthew Yonai, Bryce Wren, Logan Hodges, Holden Valeton, and Edward Blake.
