Sherwood “Alan” Searcy, age 82, of Shreveport, LA passed away at his home Tuesday, August 26, 2025. He was born June 12, 1943 in Shreveport to the late Sherwood Sumpter Searcy and Sarah Bess Oliphint Searcy.
Alan was born and raised in Mooringsport, LA and graduated from North Caddo. Alan attended Louisiana Tech and University of Louisiana Monroe (Northeast) where he graduated and then furthered his education attending and graduating from pharmacy school at Northeast. During that time he met the love his life on Caddo Lake, Dannie Lucille Springer. They were married September 4, 1965 at Mooringsport Baptist Church. Together they owned and operated Bankston Drug, Plaza Pharmacy & Southern Hills Pharmacy serving the local community as an independent pharmacy for over 30 years. He finished out his pharmacy career working at Rite Aid and Walgreens on Pierremont Ave. His second career was a love for carpentry and real estate where he rehabbed and then rented several homes in the historic Highland & Fairfield District. He and Dannie enjoyed traveling together in the RV visiting family and friends and attending LSU Football Games. Family & friends meant the world to him. The highlight of his life was his grandchildren, and cheering them on in all the multiple sporting events he could attend. He spent as much free time as he could with his son’s in Florida and Tennessee where his last project was his cherished lakehouse on South Holston Lake in Bristol, TN.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Matthew Ryan Searcy, and brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Marcy Searcy. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 60 years, Dannie Lucille Springer Searcy; his sons, Clint Searcy and fiancé, Kristen Boone; Jason Searcy and wife, Randi Bowers Searcy; grandchildren, Aiden Searcy, Avery Searcy, Foster Searcy, Isla Searcy, and Edie Searcy; sister, Gail Sumrall and husband, Mitchell; several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The funeral service for Alan will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Marshall St. with former friend, Johnny Roach officiating. A private burial will be held in Forest Park East Cemetery on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Pallbearers will be J.R. Ward, Todd Springer, Gil Searcy, Aiden Searcy, and Foster Searcy. Honorary pallbearers will be Kermit Burnside, Avery East, Richard Enmon, Larry Barber, Dickie Smith, and Johnny Roach.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the funeral home.
