SHREVEPORT, LA - A Mass of Christian burial for Sherri Lynn DeJean Alario, 64, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Father Tim Hurd. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, Shreveport, LA. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Sherri was born September 15, 1954, in Opelousas, LA to Loretta Theresa Richard DeJean and Robert Francis DeJean, Sr. and passed away September 30, 2018, in Shreveport, LA. Our dear wife and mother departed on her journey to receive our Lord's promise in fulfillment of her Faith, and shrouded in prayer and love. Her strong spirit, her hearty laugh, and her deep devotion to her family and to the teachings of our beloved Catholic Church will live in our hearts and memories forever. Sherri was preceded in death by her father, The Honorable Robert F. DeJean, Sr., mother, Loretta Richard DeJean, and brother, William Clay "Chip" DeJean. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 42 years, Richard J. "Dick" Alario; daughters, Marie Elise "Lecie" Alario Israel and husband Ben, and Stacee Anne Alario Reeves and husband Taylor; grandchildren, Frances, James, and Leigh Israel; brothers, Robert F. DeJean, Jr. and Broderick C. "Rik" DeJean. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Scott Boniol and the staff of Christus Cancer Center, Dr. Steven White, the staff of Christus Hospice, Deacon Mike Whitehead, Beverly Miller, Maxine Frazier, Tobias Ester, Chenita Brown and all of our friends that supported us during Sherri's illness and who pray for her restful soul. Honoring Sherri as pallbearers will be Ben Israel, Taylor Reeves, Bret Moore, Robb DeJean, Alan Breaud, Wally McMakin, Chris Herpel and Dr. Sonny Corley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rik DeJean, Bob DeJean, Jr., The Honorable James Genovese and Robert J. Alario. In lieu of flowers the Alario family suggests memorials may be made in Sherri's name to Catholic Charities USA, 2050 Ballenger Ave, Suite 400, Alexander, VA 22314, The Spiritan Foundation, 1700 W. Alabama St, Houston, TX 77098, or a charitable organization of the donor's choice.
