A graveside service for Shelby Jean Fain Humphries, 81, will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Shelby's nephew, Jimmy Plank.
Shelby was born on November 25, 1940 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to Jessie Franklin Fain and Rebecca Adams Fain and passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 in Bastrop, Louisiana.
Shelby was a resident of Monroe and was Regional Manager for Holiday Retirement in the Assisted Living Community before retiring. She loved anything pertaining to sports, particularly basketball. She attended Ogden High School in Liddieville, Louisiana where she was an All-State basketball player. She especially loved watching her son, Stan Humphries, during his time playing for the San Diego Chargers. She spent the last years of her life on Long Glade Lake in East Texas where she attended Henderson Cowboy Church.
Shelby is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, William Jewell Humphries; stepson, Randy Humphries; three brothers, Wilbur, Dorfus and Robert Fair; two sisters, Ann McGary and Marie Plank. Left to cherish her memory is her son, William Stanley Humphries and wife, Connie; stepson, Bryan Humphries and wife, Linda; brother, Noel Fain and wife, Marilyn; and sister, Hazel Beard; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly.
Honoring Shelby as pallbearers will be Jurgen Fain, James Stephens, Cody Dollar, Steve Reeve, Brett Walley and Adam Walley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Geoffrey and Jonathan Humphries.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of their choice.
