Sheila Boyd

A memorial service honoring the life of Mrs. Sheila Boatner Boyd will be held on July 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Perry Anderson will officiate the service. 

Sheila was born November 18, 1955, to Raymond and Lizzettie Greer Boatner, in Arcadia, Louisiana. She passed away on May 21, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Sheila worked as a teacher first for Bienville Academy, and then as a kindergarten teacher at Crawford Elementary School until her retirement. She loved being a teacher, but taking care of her grandkids was her life. She was affectionately known as Granbear by her grandkids. Sheila enjoyed and loved many things, but her three favorites were Kenny Rogers, Harry Potter, and bears. She will be greatly missed by those that she taught, those that she knew, but especially by those that loved her.

Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lizzettie Boatner, and by her brother William (Billy) R. Boatner. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Sabrina Boyd Sherrill and husband Andy, grandchildren Collin Sherrill and Braelyn Sherrill, sister Beverly Wilhite, sister-in-law Julia Boatner, nieces and nephews; Desiree Dawson, Mitchell Valentine, Vicki Symoniak, Monty Valentine, Melissa Lotowski, and Shannon and Wanda Wilhite, and by numerous other great nieces, nephews, students, fellow teachers, and friends.
