Shaun P. Thompson, 37, of Keithville, LA passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at WK Pierremont surrounded by family, friends and battle buddies.
Shaun was born on April 18, 1982 in Nacogdoches, TX. He grew up in the Desoto Parish area and graduated from Mansfield High School in 2000. His childhood dream of becoming a soldier came true when enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard at the age of 17 and proudly served his country through 2 tours in Iraq. In 2016, he was medically retired from the guard and was currently pursuing a degree at BPCC in Computer Technology. He loved hunting, fishing, drawing, grilling, woodworking, music, and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys Fan! He loved his family and honestly just loved people in general. He always saw the good in every person he met. He made an impact on everyone that he knew and you just couldn't help but love him. He was always there to support his family and friends in whatever they needed. Over the last week, I have heard him referred to as many things but a few that stood out the most were an amazing leader, a great friend, a brother, a loved and respected member of the Guard, a commanding presence, a mentor, a role model, a hard-ass, a smart-ass, loyal, funny, dedicated, but above all....One Hell of a Soldier!! To me, he was more than my husband. He's my protector, my team mate, my teddy bear, and my very best friend! I am so thankful he was mine for the time God allowed me to have him.
Shaun is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Diane Hyde; biological father, Kenneth P. Thompson; grandmother, Doris Pickens; grandfather, William Pickens; and fur baby, Bailey B. Mojo. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 8 years, Jessica Thompson; son, Shaun A. Thompson (17); daughter, Avery N.
