SUMMERFIELD, LA: Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Saundra Ann Rockett Bays, age 76, at Summerfield Baptist Church in Summerfield, LA, on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Johnie Adkins, officiating. Interment will follow at Summerfield Cemetery in Summerfield, LA. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 9-10 a.m., prior to the service.
Mrs. Bays was born January 4, 1944, in Spearsville, LA, to Joseph C. and Sallie Post Rockett. She entered into rest on Sunday, December 20, 2020, in Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Bays was employed by the Claiborne Parish School Board as a secretary. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and loved His church. She looked forward to going to El Dorado on Saturdays to shop and eat out. Mrs. Bays enjoyed playing Rook with her family and her favorite thing to do was "Shoot the Moon." She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who loved making memories with her family.
Mrs. Bays was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Doyle Rockett and Norman Rockett; four sisters, Syble Williams, Elise Compton, Wilma Brazzel, and Monell Reed.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 42 years, Jack P. Bays; two daughters, Holly Vinson and husband Tony, and Sally Bays all of Summerfield, LA; three grandchildren, Clyde, Sonnie, and Jack; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Bucky Bailey, Jeff Brantley, Greg Scriber, Scott Campbell, Hunter Campbell, and Jed Dance.
Honorary pallbearers will be Skipper Brown, Darrell Pepper, James Scriber, Ken Copeland, and Reginald Allgood.
In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Bays, her family request memorials be made to Summerfield Cemetery.
