ATHENS, LA: Funeral services was held for Mrs. Sarah Walker Stacks, 96, at Tulip Church near Athens, LA, on Friday, September 14, 2018, at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Perry Anderson, officiating. Interment was held in Tulip Cemetery. The family received friends at the church prior to the service from 10-11 A.M.
Mrs. Stacks was born April 6, 1922, in McComb, MS, to Rosa Belle Coney and William Alva Walker, Sr. She entered into rest on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, in Homer, LA. Mrs. Stacks worked many years for Claiborne Parish School Board in the cafeteria of Athens High School where she eventually retired. She loved spending time with her family and playing spades.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bonnie Louis Stacks; a brother and thirteen sisters; and a daughter, Nancy Walker Stacks.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sarah Harmon and husband Jimmy and Kelly Carpenter and husband Doug; a son, Louis Walker Stacks; three grandchildren, Nancy Blanchard and husband Chey, Trudy Hays and husband Clayton and Seth Harmon and wife Jessica; seven great-grandchildren, Beaux Blanchard, Raegan Blanchard, Jewelyn Hays, Mary Katherine Hays, Sarabeth Hays, Hayden and Hallie Harmon; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
It is with a grateful heart that the family of Mrs. Stacks wants to thank Dr. Scott Haynes, Dr. Mark Haynes and the staff at Claiborne Memorial Medical Center for the care and compassion shown to our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Pallbearers were Seth Harmon, Hayden Harmon, Clayton Hays, Allen Ray Waldrop, Andy Smock, and Jerry Abercrombie.
In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Stacks, her family suggests donor's choice.
