Sarah M. Bostwick

Sarah Bostwich, 90, a lifelong resident of Blanchard, Louisiana, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

Sarah was born to Michael Charles Morris and Virginia Prudhomme Morris on October 20, 1932 in Mansfield, Louisiana. After the early death of Michael Morris, she was raised by her stepfather, James Sikes, who married the widowed Virginia.

After attending Byrd High School, she married her husband of 68 years, Ted Bostwick. She had three children: Vicki Lynn Bostwick, Christy Kay Bostwick and Terrilll (Terry) Clark Bostwick. She deeply loved her deceased husband, Ted, her children and grandchildren: Stuart and Spencer Bostwick.

Outgoing and vibrant, she gave her life to the Lord at a Billy Graham Crusade in Shreveport in 1951. She served her Savior as a Sunday School Youth Superintendent at Blanchard Baptist Chruch for a decade and served in several other roles. She especially loved serving in the kitchen (she was a superb cook). The last 20 years she was a member of Trinity Heights Baptist Church and loved her Sunday School class and worship service until she was no longer physically able to attend.

Sarah retired from Arkla Gas Company after 25 years of service. While she worked there, she made lifelong friends. She was a regular contributor/columnist to the Blanchard area Town Express community newspaper. Her primary interests focused on her church, community and whatever her family wanted. She lived for family holiday dinners (at her house) and those will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Christy Kay as well as her husband Ted.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicky; son, Terry and wife, Debbie Reed Bostwick and her two grandsons, Spencer and Stuart and wife, Katie Bedillion Bostwick.

Special thanks to Trinity Heights Baptist Church Family and First Baptist Church-Blanchard Family. Patricularly, the Permenter, Culbertson, Tippet, Bains and Latos families; Ollie Terhune, Sonny Snell, Betty Cline and Marge Wilkerson for their steady, neighborly kindness; to Dr. David Huson and his staff for the years of compassionate care he provided. Thanks also to Jackie Savannah, Maxine Savannah, Annette Parker, Betty Goss, Tamara Patton and Brenda Allen and the Christus Hospice team for the wonderful caregiving these last years of life that granted Sarah her wish to finish her earthly journey at home.
