Sandra "Sandy" Stewart

Sandra “Sandy” Stewart, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, of Shreveport, Louisiana, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2026. She was born on September 14, 1948, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Troy and Alice Rayburn.

Sandy was a graduate of Fair Park High School, class of 1966, where she met her high school sweetheart, Wayman Joe Stewart Sr. “Butch.” They got married on July 9, 1968, and created an amazing life together, raising their boys. In 1996, she joined the Caddo Sheriff's Department, where she made numerous lifelong friendships and had a lasting impact on many. She developed a deep passion for the sheriff's department, where she retired twice, once in 2014 and again in 2023.

Her love of being a grandmother was evident. She embraced every opportunity to brag on her grandkids to everyone she came in contact with. Sandy was always out shopping with her granddaughters or daughter, or cheering on her grandkids at all the many sporting events.

The Lord was the center of Sandy's life. She devoted her life to serving the Lord through serving at her church as a nursery volunteer, bus driver, and even as Mrs. Claus. Sandy quickly became everyone's Grandma by giving all her love to anyone she met.

The love of her family, friends, and the Lord was the driving force in everything she did. She was always thinking and praying for others and planning the next adventure. Her sweet spirit will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents; brother (Danny Rayburn); daughter-in-law (Casey Stewart); and niece (Tonya Coronado).

She is survived by her loving husband, Butch of 57 years; her sister Louise King (Bobby); her sons, Bryan Stewart (Paige), Wayman Joe Jr. Stewart (Stephanie); and her daughter, Renee Stewart; her five wonderful grandchildren, Mackenzie Stewart, Ashlynn Coleman (Cody), Colleen Stewart, Dakota Stewart, and Hailey Stewart; and numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

The Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Westview Christian Church, 7188 Greenwood Road, Shreveport, LA. Officiating the service will be Pastor Luke Bailey.
