Sandra was born on August 29, 1949, to Edwin and Adena Jones in Lubbock, Texas, and passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Sandra was a proud high school graduate who went on to build a remarkable career with the United States District Court, Western District of Louisiana, in Shreveport. She dedicated more than forty years of her life to the court, serving with loyalty, steadiness, and a strong work ethic that never wavered. In 1973, she married the love of her life, Gerald Dean.
She was an active member of her church and a woman whose compassion extended far beyond her own circle. Sandra had a deep love for animals and spent countless hours volunteering with Nina’s Road and Rescue, offering care and comfort wherever it was needed. She was a devoted fan of LSU Baseball and Football, cheering on her Tigers with the same passion she brought to everything she did.
Sandra was known for her honesty; if she thought it, she said it. Her tongue could bite, but her heart was warm, and her arms were always long enough to encircle and comfort anyone who needed her. Even as she faced her own ailments, she remained willing to lend a helping hand, showing grit, resilience, and a spirit that refused to dim. Sandra had a strength all her own, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Adena Jones; beloved husband, Gerald Dean; stepson, Ricky Dean; sisters, Eddie Diann Charles and Cheryl Jones Dunlop; and niece, Diann LaFae Miller. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Sam Dean; granddaughters, Riley and Sophia Dean, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
